Job Summary: The Activity Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing a comprehensive activity program designed to meet the physical, mental, and psychosocial needs of residents in a skilled nursing facility. This role involves creating engaging activities that enhance the quality of life for residents and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a diverse activity program that meets the needs and interests of residents.

• Schedule and coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly activities, including special events and outings.

• Assess residents’ needs and preferences to tailor activities accordingly.

• Supervise and train activity staff and volunteers.

• Maintain accurate records of resident participation and activity outcomes.

• Collaborate with other departments to ensure a holistic approach to resident care.

• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to resident activities.

• Manage the activity department budget and resources.

• Promote resident engagement and participation in activities.

• Evaluate the effectiveness of activity programs and make improvements as needed.

• Communicate with residents, families, and staff about upcoming activities and events.

Qualifications:

• Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or Activity Director Certified (ADC) is a plus.

• Previous experience in activity planning and management, preferably in a healthcare or skilled nursing facility.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Creativity and enthusiasm for developing and leading activities.

• Knowledge of state and federal regulations for skilled nursing facilities.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and activity management software.

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
