Job Summary: The Activity Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing a comprehensive activity program designed to meet the physical, mental, and psychosocial needs of residents in a skilled nursing facility. This role involves creating engaging activities that enhance the quality of life for residents and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a diverse activity program that meets the needs and interests of residents.
Schedule and coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly activities, including special events and outings.
Assess residents’ needs and preferences to tailor activities accordingly.
Supervise and train activity staff and volunteers.
Maintain accurate records of resident participation and activity outcomes.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure a holistic approach to resident care.
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to resident activities.
Manage the activity department budget and resources.
Promote resident engagement and participation in activities.
Evaluate the effectiveness of activity programs and make improvements as needed.
Communicate with residents, families, and staff about upcoming activities and events.
Qualifications:
Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or Activity Director Certified (ADC) is a plus.
Previous experience in activity planning and management, preferably in a healthcare or skilled nursing facility.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Creativity and enthusiasm for developing and leading activities.
Knowledge of state and federal regulations for skilled nursing facilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and activity management software.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Working Conditions:
