Job Summary: Responsible for completion of functions of the Activities Department and responsible for recruitment, orientation and placement of activities staff and volunteers
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
- Develop a program that enhances the quality of life for the residents we serve as well as families, friends and visitors
- Maintains a healthy relationship with the community
- Review and revise policies, procedures and job descriptions annually
- Plans and teaches activities inservice classes
- Promotes resident centered home like atmosphere
- Responsible for timely completion of activity assessments and MDS+ assessments
- Works closely with residents and/or representative to develop person centered plan of care
- Active member of the Interdisciplinary Team - Attends Patient care meetings.
- Responsible to ensure Resident Council meets monthly – that a president is in place – assist as the council deems appropriate (ex: Records keeping, organization)
- Responsible for completion of audits and reports to QUAPI team
- Responsible to ensure volunteer records are accurate and maintained
- Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
- Notifies appropriate department when resident complains
- Advertises, Interviews & Hires all new activities personnel
- Treats residents and their families with respect and dignity.
- Provides private re-education and training to staff members as needed
- Knowledgeable regarding NYS & Federal regulations
- Responsible for emergency preparedness.
- Knowledgeable regarding Fire & Disaster policies and procedures
- Encourages employees to attend care center inservices and educational opportunities
- Has a genuine interest in and appreciation of adults in the later years of life.

- Completes annual education requirements.

Regulatory Requirements:
- Certified Occupational &/or Recreational Therapist OR
- Therapeutic Recreation Therapist OR
- 5 years experience within long term care activities
Language Skills:
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
Skills:
- Basic computer knowledge.
