Activity Coordinator- Subacute/FT/Days - Memorial Hospital of Gardena

Job Title: Activity Coordinator 

Job Summary: The Activity Coordinator develops and provides services and programs to patients and families within ambulatory and inpatient settings. Works closely with various departments to assess needs and develop new programs to meet those needs. Trains and supervises volunteers working in various programs. Actively and consistently contributes to department operations and communications, behaves in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Pipeline Health, upholding standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) patient communication.

Experience: Must have one of the following:

• Completion of at least 36 hours training in a course designed specifically for this position and approved by the Department and shall receive regular, ongoing, consultation from an occupational therapist, qualified social worker, or recreation therapist. (please provide certificate)
•  Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational therapy, art therapist, music therapist, dance therapist, recreation therapist, social work or an Associate’s Degree for occupational therapy assistant.
• Two years’ experience in a social recreational or educational program within the past five years, one year of which was full-time in an activities program in a healthcare, mental health or handicapped program setting.
• Minimum of six (6) months prior experience in working with patient in long term care setting.
• Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, strong organizational skills, ability to follow verbal instructions, and PC (computer) skills.
• A capacity to learn, synthesize, make critical judgments, work independently, place patients and families first, and collaborate with the team members who are recognized leaders within health care.

Education:

•  N/A

Licensure/Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Associate (AHA) within 90 days of hire.
• AB508 Workplace Violence Prevention (4 hour) due within 30 days.

OR

•  Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB 1 or MAB 2), Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or other certification covering AB508 and SB1299.
