About the Job
The Activities Coordinator is responsible for the following:
- Assist with the planning, organizing and implementing of a comprehensive program of activities, both within the facility and outside the facility, to stimulate and promote interest and general well-being for all participants
- Prepare the monthly calendar of events with new and innovative programming, as well as traditional events, which cover recreation and intellectual/educational development
- Assist with the preparation and distribution of the monthly newsletter
- Distribute mail, newspapers and other periodicals
QUALIFICATIONS:
Special Skills and Requirements:
- Must possess a caring, compassionate, energetic personality and a desire to provide entertaining and stimulating activities
- Must have experience in implementing a broad activity program to meet participants needs
- Must be able to plan, direct and carry out a program which covers recreation and educational development
- Must be detail oriented and have excellent literacy and writing, documentation, communications and interpersonal abilities
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Post-Secondary education with concentration in activities leadership, geriatrics or counseling is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Has the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Has the ability to effectively present information to management, residents, family members, and other employees.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Completion of State approved training course (MEPAP I and MEPAP II) is preferred. Activity Director Certification (NCCAP certification) is preferred, but not required.
