About the Job
Basic Function:
Under the direction of the Billing Supervisor and according to established policies and procedures, this individual will work denials and accounts aging reports for insurance as well as answering billing calls.
Working Relations
Position reports to: Revenue Cycle Manager
Position supervises: None
Internal and external relationships: As a representative of Bluegrass Orthopaedics all comments, attitudes, actions and behaviors have a direct affect on the Company’s image and perceptions of quality service. Interaction with patients, families, physicians, referral services, visitors, volunteers, coworkers, supervisors, venders, etc. must be in a manner that is friendly, supportive, courteous, respectful, cooperative and professional. This behavior should promote an atmosphere of teamwork in line with company standards and guidelines to promote positive relationships and excellent patient care.

1.1 All daily tasks not completed within the work shift are to be reported to appropriate personnel.

Attendance
1. Follows established company policies and procedures with regard to attendance.
1.2 Adheres to tardiness policy.
1.3 Provides notification for unscheduled absences or tardiness in accordance with established departmental procedures as noted by supervisor.
1.4 Requests scheduled time off according to procedure as noted by supervisor.
Machines/equipment used: Telephone, computers, copiers, facsimile, credit card machine, keys, etc.
Environmental conditions: Indoors in climate controlled environment. Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. Occasional exposure to chemical and electrical hazards.
Physical requirements: Good visual acuity. Ability to speak and hear. Able to lift and carry in excess of 25 pounds, which may require pushing, pulling and essentially utilizing a full range of body movement. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, grasp and stand for extended periods of time. Able to withstand extreme temperatures, hot and cold.
Degree of supervision provided to position: Minimal, must be self directed and able to work independently.

Total education, vocational training and experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Two years billing experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Computer skills are required.
- Legible handwriting.

- Performs billing and mailing duties in a timely, efficient manner.
- Performs clerical duties within established procedural guidelines.
