About the Job
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will lead our AP department, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all vendor payments while maintaining strong internal controls and fostering team development.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The AP Supervisor will manage daily operations of the accounts payable function, oversee a team of AP specialists, and work closely with other departments to optimize payment processes and maintain vendor relationships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and mentor a team of AP specialists, including workload distribution, performance evaluation, and professional development
- Oversee the full accounts payable cycle, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, expense reports, and payments
- Establish and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures for the AP department
- Review and approve payment batches, wire transfers, and ACH payments
- Reconcile AP sub-ledger to general ledger and resolve discrepancies
- Manage vendor relationships and resolve complex payment issues
- Ensure compliance with tax requirements and maintain W-9 documentation
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing reports
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline AP processes
- Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of accounts payable experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and AP best practices
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with process improvement and automation initiatives
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership and communication abilities
