Accounts Payable Specialist – Non-Profit Organization
We’re hiring an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a mission-driven non-profit organization in Hartford, CT. This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records, processing payments, and ensuring the organization’s vendors and partners are supported efficiently. Compensation: $50,000-$60,000/year, with potential for performance bonuses.
Location: Hartford, CT (On-site with hybrid flexibility after initial training).

Key Responsibilities:
- Process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper coding to the appropriate accounts and grants.
- Prepare and issue payments, including checks, ACH transfers, and wire payments, while adhering to organizational policies.
- Review and reconcile expense reports, ensuring compliance with funding and organizational guidelines.
- Assist with tracking budgets and grant-related expenses to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
- Maintain organized records of transactions, supporting audits and financial reporting.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve payment discrepancies and inquiries.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparing AP-related journal entries.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (preferred).
- 2+ years of experience in accounts payable, ideally in a non-profit setting.
- Familiarity with non-profit funding regulations, grant compliance, and restricted funds (a plus).
