Accounts Payable Manager - Ledgent Finance & Accounting

About the Job
The Accounts Payable Manager leads the AP team and collaborates with the Director of Finance to support organizational growth. The role includes managing financial systems, ensuring compliance with policies, overseeing day-to-day AP operations, and contributing to strategic planning. The AP Manager is also responsible for supervising staff, enhancing processes, and participating in audits and professional development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee AP operations, including vendor accounts, cash disbursements, and financial data integrity
- Supervise and train AP staff, fostering a collaborative and learning-oriented environment
- Manage aging payables, prepare journal entries, and ensure compliance with policies
- Develop, maintain, and update written AP procedures in coordination with the finance team
- Assist with annual audit preparations, including gathering documentation and coordinating activities
- Handle AP-related reporting to federal, city, and other agencies as required
- Serve as backup for check processing and support grant accounting with financial documentation
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of AP management experience with a BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or 5-8 years of relevant experience without a degree
- Experience managing and training AP staff, preferably in a nonprofit setting
- Knowledge of nonprofit allocation methodologies and fund accounting software like NetSuite/MIP, etc.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and analytical skills with the ability to meet deadlines
- Technologically savvy and experienced in process improvement
