Job Title: Accounts Payable Manager
FLSA Status: Salaried Exempt
Job Location: Irvine (on-site)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented experienced Accounts Payable Manager to oversee and manage our accounts payable function for a rapidly growing homebuilding company. This individual will play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy and efficiency of our account's payable operations, ensuring timely and accurate payment processing, and helping to streamline and improve accounts payable processes. The ideal candidate will have several years of managerial experience in accounts payable within the construction or homebuilding industry and a strong understanding of financial systems and best practices. The position reports to the Director of Accounting.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following, however other duties may be assigned:
- Oversee core Accounts Payable (AP) functions including trade vendor & supplier relations, vendor setup, W9 maintenance, 1099 issuance, prelim & lien release tracking, and invoice/check/ACH processing with proper approvals
- Implement and apply AP policies and procedures to consistently ensure accuracy and timeliness of payments. This includes, but is not limited to, reviewing and reconciling trade vendor & supplier statements, resolving any discrepancies timely, and ensuring compliance with agreed contractual payment terms
- Assist operations project managers & staff with AP relevant questions and concerns through strong, effective communication & organization skills
- Assist Director of Accounting with analysis of AP relevant initiatives for adherence to industry standards and best practices, identifying opportunities for key process efficiencies and potential control enhancements
- As needed, lead the recruiting and onboarding of new AP team members
- Oversee the AP team by setting clear goals, managing workloads, and providing guidance to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment through regular communication, feedback, and professional development opportunities
- Assist cash forecasting for projects as needed
Position Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent years of related experience
- 5 to 20 years of experience in an Accounts Payable reviewer/supervisory role and/or managerial position. Homebuilding industry experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experience with major ERP applications such as Newstar and/or construction management software such as BuildPro/SupplyPro
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff as well as third-party partners and customers
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Base Salary:
The expected base salary range for this position is between $77,000 to $117,000 per year, depending on experience and skillset. Base Salary is paid bi-weekly, every other Friday. Additionally, this position is eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance.
