About the Job
Job Description: The Accounts Payable Clerk is crucial in supporting the financial management of our programs funded by New York State and US Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) grants. The individual in this role will work closely with the CFO and Accountant to ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, compliance with grant regulations, and maintenance of financial records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process accounts payable transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Reconcile GL Accounts and financial records regularly.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation in compliance with grant regulations and organizational policies.
- Assist in monitoring budget allocations and expenditures for grant-funded programs.
- Prepare and submit invoices, expense reports, and reimbursement requests as needed.
- Support the Financial Department by conducting periodic audits and reviews to ensure compliance with grant requirements and internal controls.
- Collaborate with program managers and staff to provide financial support and guidance.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the CFO.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred. Associate's degree or equivalent experience may be considered.
- Prior experience working in accounting or financial management, preferably in a nonprofit or grant-funded organization.
- It is highly desirable to be familiar with New York State and US Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) grant regulations and reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Must have a valid NYS Drivers license.
