Job Title: Accounts Payable Clerk
20-25 hrs. per week. Schedule is flexible as long as it is during normal banking hours (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday).
Position Overview: The Accounts Payable Clerk will be responsible for managing and processing vendor invoices, ensuring timely and accurate payments, and maintaining financial records. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process vendor invoices and expense reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Review and verify invoices for appropriate documentation and approval.
- Ensure compliance with accounts payable processes, including W-9 collection and 1099 reporting.
- Understand and classify expenses according to appropriate expense accounts and cost centers.
- Manage the accounts payable ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
- Prepare and process payment batches, including checks and electronic transfers.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist in month-end closing activities related to accounts payable.
- Maintain organized records of accounts payable transactions and documents.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment-related issues.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in accounting or finance is preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in accounts payable or a related field.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
