About the Job
Vaco is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Accountant to manage the financial operations critical to the growing business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and review vendor invoices, ensuring accurate coding and timely entry into the accounting system
- Conduct 3-way matching of purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices specific to the manufacturing process
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Manage payments via ACH, wire transfers, and checks, adhering to company policies and timelines
- Prepare weekly and monthly accounts payable reports, including aging and cash flow projections
- Collaborate with procurement and production teams to address payment or invoicing issues
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing tasks, including accruals and reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and assist in external audits related to accounts payable
- Monitor and maintain accurate vendor records, including W-9s and tax-related documentation
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Accounts Payable Accountant, preferably in the apparel manufacturing industry
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes and best practices
- Proficiency in Accounting software, e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, or Oracle
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Knowledge of 1099 preparation and compliance
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with cost accounting principles specific to manufacturing
- Experience in ERP systems related to manufacturing and inventory management
- Understanding of textile or apparel industry logistics and vendor requirements
