Job Summary:
The Accounts Payable Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, expense reports, and payments. This individual will work closely with internal departments and external vendors to maintain accurate financial records and contribute to the overall efficiency of the accounting team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and review vendor invoices for accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with company policies.
- Manage the weekly accounts payable cycle, including check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of invoices and payment transactions within the accounting system.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including AP account reconciliations.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and build strong relationships with external partners.
- Monitor accounts payable aging reports to ensure timely payments and avoid late fees.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to verify purchase orders and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Support audits by preparing required documentation and answering related inquiries.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of accounts payable or general accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in SAP or QuickBooks accounting software.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and accounts payable processes.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
