Location: Lansing, MI
Type of Job: Part time (30 hours weekly)
Length of Contract: 1 year or 832 hours
Essential Skills:
- High School Diploma Required, Associate's preferred.
- Must have a clear background check
- Willing to submit to a drug screening
- Must have previous accounting experience listed on resume
- Must have experience with Excel & Pivot Tables listed on resume
Working Environment:
- Standing, sitting, lifting, reaching for up to 10 hours daily
- Lifting up to 30 lbs
- Comfortable working in a government financial institute
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Provide general assistance and support to senior licensed accounting sta.
2. Review completeness and ensure proper controls in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices.
3. Provide information on financial aspects of state programs to local government agencies, including monitoring revenues, expenditures, budgeting, and reporting requirements.
4. Review and analyze journal vouchers and formal accounting records in accordance with accounting practices and procedures.
5. Reconcile control records of such financial transactions as revenues, expenditures, allotments, receipts, assets, encumbrances, and bank transactions.
6. PROCESS APPLICATIONS FOR GRANTS AND REIMBURSEMENT OF FUNDS BY REVIEWING AND VERIFYING SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS.
7. The Analyst will be responsible to complete or oversee a variety of professional research and analysis assignments for the purpose of evaluation, assessment, planning, development and implementation of various departmental programs or services.
8. The analyst class will perform professional services in the following classification areas:
Accountant, Auditor, Departmental Analyst, and Financial Analyst.
9. Researches, collects, consolidates, and analyzes and maintains program data necessary to meet program reporting and evaluation requirements, and the goals of the agency program or service.
10. Establishes, administers, and evaluates programs, recommends program policies and procedures.
11. Designs forms and evaluates documents and applications for possible inclusion in programs.
12. Designs and conducts surveys or special studies to assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and services.
13. Conducts research and analysis, prepares reports and conducts correspondence related to the work activities of the departmental program area.
14. Interprets existing and proposed laws, policies, and procedures as they relate to a program or service area. Proposes and develops new policy materials and supporting instructions in a program area.
15. Designs, implements, and documents personal computer-based data collection, processing, and reporting systems.
16. Uses and maintains computer databases to record and analyze data on program and service activities. Evaluates contracts documents for compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
17. Recommends criteria, standards, and guidelines to assess agencies programs and determines their compatibility with the objectives and priorities of the state program area.
