Position Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor to join their team in their Buffalo Grove, IL HQ. This position plays a crucial role in managing the month-end close process, preparing and reporting timely financial statements, and ensuring the accuracy of all financial data. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of general ledger accounting, and experience working with both internal and external auditors. Additionally, the Accounting Supervisor will work collaboratively with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable departments, and will be responsible for driving efficiencies within the accounting function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Month-End Close: Manage and execute the month-end close process to ensure financial statements are prepared accurately and on time.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and report timely financial statements; analyze financial performance and provide insightful reports to leadership to support decision-making.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams to ensure smooth and accurate accounting processes.
- Staff Management: Lead and mentor a Staff Accountant, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
- Auditing: Serve as the primary point of contact for external and internal auditors, ensuring timely and efficient completion of audits.
- Process Improvements: Identify and implement efficiencies and improvements within the accounting function to streamline operations and enhance accuracy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and analysis.
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and interact with leadership.
