About the Opportunity:
We are partnering with a leading company in the trade, marketing, and distribution of clean petroleum transportation fuels in Southern California. This organization is dedicated to delivering high-quality fuel products with a focus on environmental sustainability.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our client's dynamic team in Irvine. This role is responsible for day-to-day operations and processing for both Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) functions. Experience in the fuel or environmental industry is required.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable:
- Obtain and verify Bills of Lading for product receipt and delivery.
- Process and balance inventory, including month-end closing activities.
- Handle inventory management and drop shipments.
- Generate and validate invoices for accuracy.
- Maintain and manage files through the document imaging system.
- Occasionally support payables with freight vouching.
- Prepare exemption certifications for Federal Notification Certificates, State/Local Governments, and Bus Operations.
- File CA Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax Returns, including prepayment computations, diesel tax returns, and zero-tax returns.
Accounts Payable:
- Verify and process invoices and vouchers for payment (checks or bank wires).
- Process and pay vendor invoices.
- Resolve vendor inquiries and discrepancies.
- Maintain AP files through imaging and indexing.
- Process employee expense reports for payment.
- Print checks and ensure proper internal controls are followed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
- Experience: 2–4 years in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
- Industry Experience: Preference for candidates with petroleum distribution or related environmental industry experience.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with Navision is highly preferred.
- Attributes:
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Strong data processing and analytical abilities.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Effective communicator with strong email etiquette and verbal skills.
- Proficient in internal controls and compliance.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds when needed.
