Global financial institution seeks Accounting Specialist II.
The Accounting Specialist II is responsible for all accounting and finance management issues for the its construction, machine tool, transportation, IT/Syndication and other Japanese client business. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial books and records, performing monthly/quarterly closing, performing monthly GL account and process reconciliations, assisting with customer billing and customer payment applications in loan/lease accounting system and overall review of loan and lease transactions. Role also entails taking part in internal/external audits and maintaining compliance with company rules and regulations.
The anticipated salary range for this role is $72,000 to $100,000 as base. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, we offer a competitive portfolio of benefits to our employees.
Responsibilities:
This position will report directly to a Deputy General Manager in charge for Accounting and Tax, or Accounting and Tax Manager.
- Review loan and lease transactions, ensure accuracy and completeness of the financial books and records, perform monthly/quarterly closing, reporting to external and to Japan headquarters. Report to the manager of the Accounting Team.
- Work closely with Credit, Leasing Operations, Marketing teams. Perform transaction analysis (Capital lease, Operating lease, Structured finance, GAAP analysis and documentation support/support).
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Perform select GL account and process reconciliations as well as other duties as assigned and special projects when necessary
- Assist in performing execution of wire disbursements for daily fundings.
- Review Loan and lease transactions in the leasing system, executing any necessary restructure, termination and other contract revision.
- Review and process expense (A/P) to supplier/vendors.
- Check and update daily Cash Flow Management, plan and prepare necessary borrowing and repayment, request quote for an indication rate when needed. Maintain borrowing records in Loan System and excel, ensure accuracy and completeness of the financial books.
- Negotiate borrowing conditions and terms with banks, review and execute borrowing contracts, maintain available facilities.
- Train and instruct junior staff during the course of day to day operation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required
- Strong accounting and analytical skills required
- Ability to balance and prioritize critical responsibilities to ensure all deadlines are met on a timely basis.
- Highly detail-oriented with an aptitude and desire to learn new products, conduct research and display critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Takes appropriate actions proactively and seeks advice and escalates issues related to compliance to management in a timely fashion.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and high ethical standards; able to work well in a team environment and is seen as a strong team player.
- Work experience in Financial Services preferred.
- Experience working in the equipment financing industry or bank-owned leasing company environment preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business-related major or equivalent. MA/MS/MBA a plus.
- Business fluency in English
