Accounting Specialist

As an Accounting Specialist, you'll work in a supportive environment, handling a variety of financial tasks, from invoicing and collections to reconciliations, and monthly closings. Your attention to detail and ability to problem-solve will be key to succeeding in this role. Enjoy a flexible start and end time with a 9am – 5pm schedule Monday through Friday, and experience the satisfaction of helping a growing organization maintain financial integrity.
This is an on-site, in-person in Buffalo, New York.
Responsibilities:
- Contact clients by phone, email, and written communication to follow up on past-due bills.
- Work closely with the team to resolve payment issues and discrepancies.
- Prepare and send invoices and statements to clients as needed to ensure smooth billing operations.
- Keep accurate records of all collections communications in an Excel spreadsheet, updated monthly to reflect new past-due bills.
- Enter debits and credits into the accounting system and process direct deposits and check payments accurately.
- Reconcile bank deposits and cleared checks daily to ensure financial accuracy.
- Provide top-notch service and maintain confidentiality in dealings with clients, vendors, and staff.
- Contribute to the monthly closing process, ensuring everything is in order for financial reporting.
- Manage accounts payables, ensuring timely processing of payments.
- Provide additional administrative support to the accounting team as needed.
- Take on other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of accounting experience in an office setting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to problem-solve and work independently or as part of a team.
- Capable of handling sensitive financial information with confidentiality.
