Position Summary: The Accounting Manager role is a key position which requires strong leadership skills. The Accounting Manager is responsible for delivery of timely and accurate commercial real estate investment management financial reporting and manages the day-to-day tasks, duties, and culture of the accounting team. This position requires a very hands-on Accounting Manager who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate should be an effective people-oriented facilitator with the ability to communicate clearly across all levels of the company.
In addition, the Accounting Manager should possess a strong work ethic and an energetic, motivational, and professional management style. They should be able to view existing processes and make recommendations for improvements using technology, workflow changes, or methodology improvements. The Accounting Manager must be able to implement process change with a wide range of user skills.
The Accounting Manager is expected to provide consistent execution of 1st Commercials goals and commitments by developing and maintaining the company’s vision, core values, and culture with an emphasis on relationship building. The Accounting Manager is an ethical and professional team contributor who can work with little to no supervision.
Responsibilities include:
Review financials for a portfolio of properties
Review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
Manage new acquisition on-boarding including preparing opening entries.
Annual CAM budgets.
Experience in preparing monthly and quarterly reporting packages.
Strong leadership skills to successfully manage and motivate a multi-level team.
Ability to handle complex work efficiently and effectively.
Strong organizational skills, prioritization, and time management skills.
Exercise a high degree of independent judgement and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication skills, both oral and written. Customer service oriented.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Assist with special projects related to quarterly close reporting process, budgets, internal audit, external audit, investor, and lender requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
Experience in managing/supervising up to 12 employees.
5+ years’ work experience in commercial real estate accounting.
Understand lease agreements and lease terms preferred.
Familiar with Lease Accounting and Administration.
Proficient in Microsoft Office365 software.
Ability to learn employer specific web base software programs.
