Accounting Manager, US Controllership, (Hybrid 2 Days)
Location: San Rafael, CA.
12 month Assignment (Potential to extend)
Pay Rate: $72- 75/hr.
Great role for a consultant to step in, on a 1 year contract, and add value to the North America Accounting team at our publicly traded pharmaceutical client in Marin County.
The Accounting Manager is part of the U.S. Controllership team, reporting to the Associate Director, North America Accounting. This position involves managing U.S. accounting operations while collaborating with global teams across NAM, EMEA, APAC, and other regions. Strong interpersonal skills are critical to bridging accounting practices with cross-functional teams outside the Accounting Organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fully own the fixed asset subledger in Oracle, including tasks such as reviewing/approving requisitions, managing asset additions, CIP asset confirmations, retirements, and more. Prior fixed asset accounting experience is required. Oracle EBS Asset experience is a plus.
- Review vendor contracts to determine appropriate U.S. GAAP accounting treatments, prepare contract templates, and explain complex transactions clearly.
- General Ledger Activities: Prepare and review journal entries, including prepaid additions/amortization, expense accruals, and other relevant entries.
- Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations, flux analysis, and commentary to explain business activities.
- Ensure the income statement and balance sheet are accurate, timely, and compliant with U.S. GAAP and company policies.
- Audit and Compliance: Support internal and external audits, ensuring SOX control compliance.
- Partner with business units and finance teams to understand business activities and provide accounting guidance.
- Drive process improvements and efficiencies to create synergies across teams and regions.
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and 6+ years of experience in General Ledger Accounting, including hands-on financial close responsibilities.
- Fixed assets and capital projects accounting experience.
- Familiarity with high-volume and complex vendor contract transactions.
- Experience with publicly traded companies, financial accounting, and controls.
- Background in life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical industries.
- Familiarity with Record-to-Report and Source-to-Pay processes.
- Advanced Excel skills, including formulas and data analytics.
- Experience with Oracle EBS and/or SAP ERP systems.
