About the Job
The Accounting Manager is a key position responsible for creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization. This position reports to the Head of Finance. This is a very hands-on position and requires excellent analytical, leadership and communications skills.
Essential Functions:
- Lead and manage the general accounting functions: A/P, A./R, general ledger and taxes.
- Assess current practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvement.
- Prepare, review and analyze the financial statements to ensure accuracy.
- Drive the monthly close process-prepare journal entries, monthly bank reconciliations and all account reconciliations.
- Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing training and maintaining strong employee relationships.
- Develop the monthly financial package for presentation to senior executives.
- Reconcile billing system and G/L on a weekly basis.
- Forecast weekly cash flow needs.
- Manage all banking transactions, daily bank balances, daily cash checkbook report.
- Manage fixed asset ledger, record monthly depreciation, record asset sales/disposals and develop and manage the intercompany process.
- Annually support company’s financial audit, property tax audit and lead the internal sales tax management process.•Lead the weekly A/P check run, guide AP clerks to manage vendor payments.
- Perform ad-hoc projects and analysis as necessary.
Required Education and Experience:
- Ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of accounting experience working in a mid-size company.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA or MBA preferred
- Proficiency with Accounting Software’s and Microsoft Excel as well as Word
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP-Previous experience working in a Manufacturing company a plus
- Cost Accounting Experience a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive materials.
