Accounting Manager - Marathon Cheese Corporation

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for financial accounting tasks of the Corporation, including month and annual close, financial statement preparation, daily banking activities, budget preparation and analyses, oversight of the accounts payable function, and other accounting related duties.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

• Lead monthly and annual financial close process, including journal entry creation and entry, account reconciliations, and reserve adequacy
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Manage accounts payable function and team members
• Perform daily banking review and report cash position to finance & leadership teams
• Participate in annual budget process through preparation of account analyses, projections and reporting
• Review departmental and corporate internal controls to assess effectiveness; suggest improvements
• Oversee fixed asset processing
• Oversee sales and use tax reporting
• Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested
• Work with external accounting firm to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end; support tax return preparation
• Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
• 4-5 years of relatable progressive accounting experience
• CPA Preferred
• Knowledge/experience with financial statement auditing
• Exposure to Corporate Tax work is a plus
• Ability to lead a diverse team of support and professional staff
• Strong attention to detail with effective critical thinking skills
• Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills
• Strong problem-solving ability to make logical and well thought out decisions
