Job DescriptionThe Accounting Manager will lead a team of accounting professionals to oversee month end close processes, prepare detailed financial analyses, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and drive continuous improvements in financial reporting and operational efficiency. This individual has excellent accounting, communication, and analytical skills, as well as a strong drive to find solutions to complex problems. The ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and responsibilities at once is a must. The Accounting Manager will be expected to provide leadership, professional development opportunities, and guidance to accounting staff.
This position reports to the Controller.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, project accounting, and general ledger accounting.
- Manage a group of direct reports, including facilitating annual reviews, goal setting, and evaluating career development paths.
- Provide training and mentorship to staff to enhance their skills and knowledge. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Prepare and post standard monthly and year end closing journal entries. Review and approve the journal entries of staff.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements including analysis and review, and help to address questions from various business unit leaders.
- Review account reconciliations prepared by staff and provide feedback to solve account issues as needed.
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to streamline financial processes, enhance efficiency, and improve data accuracy.
- Complete ad hoc projects such as assisting with external audits, tax engagements, and systems implementation.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including tax laws, industry standards, and internal policies.
- Collaborate with Finance Business Partners on budget/forecast variance analysis.
- 5+ years of accounting experience (public accounting or private industry)
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, required
- Master's degree in accounting, preferred
- CPA or CMA, preferred
- Familiarity with streamlining accounting processes using automation software, preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office software suite - Microsoft Dynamics 365 exposure preferred
- Comprehensive understanding of U.S. GAAP
- Proven experience leading teams
- Proficient analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to travel (less than 10%)
