Salary: $90,000 - $100,000 per year (based on experience)
THE OPPORTUNITY:
An exciting opportunity for an Accounting Manager to join the financial team of a well-established higher education organization in Jersey City, NJ. This position offers a chance to play a key role in the organization’s accounting operations, compliance, and financial reporting, while contributing to its continued growth and success.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Accounting Manager will assist the Assistant Controller in overseeing daily accounting functions, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting financial reporting, and leading audit processes. The role also involves helping with budgeting, planning, and providing essential financial analysis to aid in strategic decision-making.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and oversee the accounting functions, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of financial systems, reports, and budgets.
- Prepare necessary reports and filings to meet legal and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze financial data to support decision-making by senior leadership.
- Lead and manage the annual audit process.
- Collaborate across departments to resolve operational challenges.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Supervise and support junior accounting staff.
- Perform additional related duties as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) strongly preferred
- Experience: 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a higher education setting.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong knowledge of accounting procedures and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with staff, faculty, and other stakeholders.

Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts
