LHH is working with a non-profit organization who is looking to add an Accounting Manager to their team. This role involves a variety of financial tasks, such as managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense reports, annual audits, tax filings, monthly financial reports, yearly budgets, grant invoicing, and providing administrative support to the Director of Finance. Additionally, the position will supervise the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams.
Responsibilities:
- Manage monthly bank reconciliations, P&L, balance sheet review, government reporting, and employee benefits analysis.
- Handle month-end closings, journal entries, trial balance reconciliations, and prepare financial reports.
- Collaborate with external auditors for financial audits and tax returns.
- Perform weekly cash flow analysis, projections, and manage the annual budget.
- Oversee accurate reporting and reconciliation of grant revenue and expenditures for government contracts, donor-restricted funds, and program accounts.
- Ensure smooth Accounts Payable processes, maintain contracts, vendor files, record invoices, and make timely payments.
- Manage Accounts Receivable processes, ensuring compliance with net 30 and credit limit guidelines, and maintain accurate records for partners, contracts, sponsors, and donors.
- Reconcile A/R and A/P reports with the general ledger and collaborate with Operations and Donor Relations for timely data reporting.
- Conduct weekly physical inventory counts, communicate with the Operations and Distribution teams, and ensure monthly G/L reconciliations comply with government reporting and GAAP.
- Learn internal systems, document standard operating procedures, assist with staff training, and maintain financial security through internal controls.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Finance and Executive Team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting required.
- 5-7 years of experience as an Accounting Manager or Controller.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and general ledger reconciliation practices.
- Proficient in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
- Advanced skills in Excel, MS Office, and general computer literacy.
- Experience with accounting software and financial statement reconciliation.
- Knowledge of restricted and grant account reconciliation preferred.
- Proactive in learning new functions and suggesting improvements.
- Ability to independently manage projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong time management, judgment, and multitasking abilities.
- Flexibility to support management and staff as needed.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Comfort working with diverse populations.
