The Role
The Accounting manager is responsible for managing key operational accounting processes, maintaining compliance with financial standards, and strengthening internal financial systems, enabling Partners Worldwide to achieve a successful and sustainable execution of its Global Strategy.

The Work
Accounting Operations
- Maintain the general ledger and oversee journal entries for day-to-day accounting processes.
- Prepare and reconcile bank accounts, investment accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end financial closings.
- Process and review payroll and retirement contributions in collaboration with the HR team.
- Administer accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor payments and donor contributions.
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal policies.
Compliance and Audit Support
- Assist in the preparation of financial records for Partners Worldwide and its affiliates' annual audits.
- Support compliance with nonprofit reporting requirements, including tax filings and state charitable solicitation registrations.
- Maintain compliance documentation for financial and operational activities.
Collaboration and Reporting
- Support the Director of Finance in preparing financial reports for the Board of Directors and the global leadership team.
- Assist with the management of Access to Capital financial activities, ensuring accurate loan tracking and reporting.
- Partner with the Global Operations team to provide financial insight and tools for country operations.
- Participate in financial policy reviews to strengthen internal controls and risk management.
Special Projects and Process Improvements
- Collaborate with and support country leaders and department heads during the annual budgeting and planning process
- Participate in the evaluation and implementation of accounting software and financial systems.
- Collaborate on process improvement projects to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
- Provide financial support for grant management and reporting as needed.

Your Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit or global organization.
- Familiarity with nonprofit financial management, including fund accounting and compliance.
- Strong understanding of payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reconciliations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience supporting financial audits and managing donor compliance.
- Familiarity with international financial operations, including currency exchange.
- Strong organizational skills to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
