Accounting Manager Job Summary:
The Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations. This position involves managing various aspects of accounting and finance, including general ledger, month-end activities, supervision of a team of accountants, year-end audit preparation, and fixed assets management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to the values and mission of our faith-based organization.
Key Responsibilities for Accounting Manager:
General Ledger Management:
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Oversee the recording of financial transactions and ensure proper documentation.
Month-End Close:
- Lead the month-end close process, including preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
Supervision:
- Supervise and mentor a team of accountants, providing guidance and support in daily tasks and professional development.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and encourage a collaborative and positive working environment.
Year-End Audit Preparation:
- Coordinate and prepare all necessary documentation for the annual external audit.
- Collaborate with auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit process.
Fixed Assets Management:
- Maintain accurate records of fixed assets, including acquisition, depreciation, and disposal.
- Conduct periodic physical inventories and reconcile discrepancies.
Qualifications for Accounting Manager:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field highly preferred; Associates degree accepted.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience, with an understanding of nonprofit accounting principles as a huge plus.
- Knowledge of fixed assets management.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
