Our company is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager / Controller to join our dynamic finance team. This role is a crucial part of our organization, responsible for managing all aspects of our accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, specifically with percentage of completion contract accounting experience in the finance industry. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our company's financial growth and stability while working in a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
2. Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, cost accounting, and Human Resources transactional activity.
3. Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal regulatory and company policies and procedures.
4. Prepare, analyze and present monthly, quarterly and annual operating results for each department.
5. Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles and ensure timely and accurate reporting.
6. Responsible for ensuring timely monthly close and all internal financial reporting.
7. Budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
8. Coordinate, prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
9. Coordinate and/or prepare tax schedules, returns and information.
10. Manage the preparation of the company's budget and report significant budget differences to management.
11. Direct and participate in cost analyses and rate studies.
12. Manage relationships with insurance providers and ensure compliance with legal regulations.
13. Manage the company's financial audit process.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a managerial role.
3. Proven experience in percentage of completion contract accounting in the finance industry.
4. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is preferred.
5. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial data analysis.
6. Ability to work closely with a senior management team.
7. Strong computer skills, MS Excel in particular (managing spreadsheets, creating charts and using advanced formulas).
8. Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures.
9. Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
10. Sharp time management skills.
11. Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data.
12. Excellent communication and leadership skills are mandatory.
13. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
