We are currently seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Permanent Assistant Controller in the Construction industry. This position plays a significant role in our company's financial management, which includes all aspects of accounting operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for job costing, financial reporting, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems.
Responsibilities:
The Assistant Controller will have a diverse range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
1. Oversee job costing, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all costs related to construction projects.
2. Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
3. Develop and maintain internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
4. Coordinate and direct the financial planning, budgeting, procurement, or investment activities of all or part of an organization.
5. Work closely with project managers and other key personnel to understand and maintain focus on key performance risks, controls, and financial resources.
6. Assist in the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities, including revenue/expense and balance sheet reports, reports to funding agencies, development and monitoring of organizational and contract/grant budgets.
7. Monitor banking activities and ensure adequate cash flow to meet the organization's needs.
8. Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
9. Assist with tax audits and tax returns.
10. Support the Controller in ensuring a clean and timely year-end audit.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Assistant Controller position should possess the following qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role in the Construction industry.
3. Strong understanding of job costing and financial reporting.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel.
5. Experience with construction accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage 300 CRE, or equivalent.
6. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is preferred.
7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
8. Impeccable analytical and organizational skills.
9. Self-motivated and self-directed; able to work with minimal supervision.
10. Ability to work closely with a senior management team.
