Job Details
Responsibilities:
Lead the financial reporting process for our Insurance-as-a-Service and other business segments, managing both direct and ceded economics across multiple programs.
Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance financial reporting and offer valuable business support.
Oversee aspects of the GAAP (SEC) and Statutory financial statement closure according to established monthly, quarterly, and annual schedules for various subsidiaries.
Proactively engage with financial operations, underwriting, claims, and program administrators to promptly resolve reconciliations.
Cultivate positive relationships with external parties such as program administrators, managing general agents, and third-party vendors.
Identify and implement optimal practices to enhance the efficiency and efficacy of accounting and financial reporting processes.
Review and interpret reinsurance contracts (Quota Share, Excess of Loss, facultative) and recommend suitable accounting treatments.
Review quarterly and annual GAAP and Statutory financial statements, footnotes, and schedules.
Conduct research on technical GAAP and Statutory accounting standards, preparing and maintaining accounting position memos, policies, and standard operating procedures.
Provide support for external audits and prepare responses to inquiries.
Oversee the internal control environment to ensure appropriate design and operational effectiveness.
Support the implementation and operational procedures related to SOX 404 compliance.
Assist in special projects and other tasks as assigned by management.
Must Haves:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
4+ years of experience in finance and accounting roles (public accounting or private).
Profound knowledge of US GAAP accounting principles.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with financial reporting systems.
Experience in internal controls.
Experience in NetSuite or similar ERP
Nice to Haves:
Experience in the property & casualty insurance industry.
Knowledge of insurance US Statutory accounting principles.
Familiarity with insurance financial operations (e.g., underwriting, claims, and reinsurance).
Experience with ceded reinsurance accounting.
