Accounting and Finance Analyst

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Accounting and Finance Analyst will primarily serve as a Financial Analyst (FA) while managing select accounting responsibilities. This role requires a deep understanding of healthcare financial operations, particularly within Management Services Organizations (MSOs) and Independent Practice Associations (IPAs). The ideal candidate has expertise in capitation models, risk pools, and Medicare operations, as well as a foundation in financial analysis and accounting practices.
- Financial Analysis:
- Analyze financial performance related to capitation models, risk pools, and risk scores.
- Prepare forecasts and models to support decision-making for MSO and IPA operations.
- Evaluate financial data to identify trends, optimize performance, and mitigate risks.
- Accounting Functions:
- Perform select general ledger and reconciliation tasks to ensure accurate reporting.
- Collaborate with the accounting team to support monthly and quarterly close processes.
- Healthcare Operations Support:
- Provide financial insights specific to Medicare operations, including cost management and reimbursement analysis.
- Monitor and analyze risk-sharing arrangements, ensuring compliance and optimization.
- Reporting and Compliance:
- Prepare and deliver financial reports tailored to the healthcare industry, including detailed insights on risk pools and capitation revenues.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and support audit processes.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with operational leaders to align financial strategies with organizational goals.
- Partner with other teams to provide actionable insights into financial and operational efficiencies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in a financial analysis or accounting role, preferably within an MSO or healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of capitation models, risk pools, risk scores, and Medicare operations.
- Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills (e.g., data modeling, pivot tables).
- Experience with healthcare-specific financial systems is a plus.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Deep understanding of healthcare financial operations.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Collaborative and proactive in problem-solving and process improvement.
