What You'll Be Doing:
As the Accounting Coordinator, you’ll:
- Track Project Costs: Accurately record and monitor expenses related to each construction project, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Manage Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process invoices from vendors, issue invoices to clients, ensure timely payments, and maintain accurate recordkeeping.
- Master Job Costing: Utilize advanced job costing methodologies to track project profitability and identify cost overruns.
- Support Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in developing project budgets and providing financial forecasts to project managers.
- Apply Revenue Recognition Techniques: Use appropriate accounting methods like the percentage-of-completion method to ensure revenue is recognized based on project progress.
- Compliance Management: Maintain compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Organize Documentation: Assist with weekly accounts payable check distribution, maintain electronic filing systems for AP checks and supporting documents, and ensure all paperwork is detailed and accurate.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with project managers to understand project timelines, identify potential financial risks, and provide timely financial updates.
- Support Financial Operations: Collaborate with other accounting staff to ensure smooth financial operations and data consistency.
What We're Looking For:
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance OR a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Construction Savvy: Experience with construction accounting principles and practices, including job costing and the percentage-of-completion method.
- Tech Skills: Proficiency in accounting software like QuickBooks and Excel; familiarity with Procore is a plus.
- Analytical Expertise: Strong analytical skills to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for optimization.
- Detail-Oriented: Exceptional organizational skills and an eye for detail to ensure accuracy on all levels.
- Team Player: Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
