Accounting Clerk - Bowhead / UIC Technical Services

ACCOUNTING CLERK(BAMC-2025-22171)

Bowhead seeks an Accounting Clerk to support daily functions at the Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, TX. The Accounting Clerks are tasked with financial functions for various departments within the medical center at Fort Sam Houston, TX.    

Essential functions will include: 

• Execute the financial transactions related to patient care services.
• Monitor the revenue cycle to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and staff to resolve financial issues and discrepancies.
• Maintain current knowledge of insurance policies to ensure accurate financial transactions.
• Implement strategies to minimize revenue loss and maximize financial performance.
• Stay up to date on healthcare regulations and policies affecting revenue management.
• Utilize data analytics and reporting tools to track key performance indicators and financial metrics.
• Provide guidance to staff members on revenue-related processes and best practices.
• Communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and other stakeholders regarding financial matters.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in handling financial information and transactions.
• Perform other duties as assigned dependent upon the department assigned.

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required at a minimum in addition to at least two (2+) years’ experience in a hospital accounting environment.
• Accounting experience in a government and/or hospital setting highly desired.
• Intermediate level computer/PC knowledge required including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven office environment where privacy and confidentiality is critical while working alone and in teams to ensure mission success.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and provide proof of TDAP and Influenza vaccinations prior to employment and update as required.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: There are currently no Security clearance requirements however qualified candidates must be able to successfully obtain a NACI check to gain access to the facility. Bowhead retains the right to change these requirements due to contractual requirements. Due to the location of this work, US Citizenship is a requirement for this location.
