Fundamental Objectives
Organizational maintenance of the accounting functions for the Agency by utilizing generally accepted accounting principles and the fiscal requirements as outlined in the California Department of Social Services (CDSS), Child Care and Development Division (CCDD):
- Funding Terms & Conditions
- CA Code of Regulations, and the
- Attendance and Fiscal Reporting and Reimbursement Procedures for Child Development Contracts
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Prepare accounting analysis.
2. Maintain accounting records for the revenues and expenses related to the annual fiscal contract funds.
3. Audit and balance ledgers, monthly.
4. House the Miscellaneous 1099 data and copies for year end.
5. Reconcile cleared checks from provider reimbursement, monthly.
6. Regular contact with child care providers regarding outstanding reimbursements.
7. Record and maintain a balanced General Ledger.
8. Record and produce monthly financial statements for Administrative review.
9. File DE 542T Monthly Independent Contractor Report.
10. Establish and/or modify accounts codes as well as the coding of disbursements and expenditures.
11. Maintain accounting records by preparing trial balances for monthly and annual financial reports.
12. Record any inconsistencies to help the Accountant reconcile inaccuracies.
13. Assist with the verification of the accuracy of business accounts and notify the Accountant of possible errors.
14. Work in conjunction with the Accountant, CDSS and Local Auditors to assist in the preparation of the Agencys Annual Fiscal Audit, thus ensuring timely submittal of the audit.
15. Help the Accountant with Administrative duties and prepare yearly accounts.
16. Will perform any additional duties as deemed necessary by Administrative Staff.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Effectively demonstrate initiative and accountability.
Ability to operate general office equipment.
Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, Word, QuickBooks, and Outlook.
Ability to research discrepancies and explore possible resolutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrate basic accounting skills and knowledge as well as exceptional math skills.
Ability to maintain confidential information.
Regular and daily attendance.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Ability to meet departmental objectives and deadlines.
Education and Experience:
Broad experience reconciling financial balance sheet accounts.
Experience identifying systemic problems and making recommendations for changes or new processes.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
Prior related accounting experience.
Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, or a discipline.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to occasionally lift up to 10-15 pounds.
Salary Range:
$20 - $35/hr - based on experience
