Accounting Clerk - Wonderful Sales

We have a great opportunity for an Accounting Clerk to join our Direct Store Delivery (DSD) team in Bronx, NY. The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for processing all financial transactions including cash and checks, issuing customer invoices and managing the collection of payments, assisting with financial statements and month-end reporting, and providing customers service or support to the Finance & Operations team. This position reports directly to the Director of Finance & Operations. This position is expected to be in the office in the Bronx, Monday-Friday.
Job Description- Receive and process all cash/checks from both delivery and sales routes, and insure that all paperwork is received in good order – especially signed credit customer invoices
- Apply customer check and ACH payments in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
- Process online check deposits with our bank
- Prepare cash deposits for weekly pickup by cash-handling company
- Initiate weekly EDI transmissions to key customers and reconcile payments.
- Initiate weekly and monthly emails of customer statements
- Conduct collection calls to delinquent customers / act as liaison with 3rd party collections agency whenever needed
- Resolve accounting discrepancies in system as needed
- Complete weekly sales adjustments and month end reporting and reconciliation with the bank statement
- Maintain all monthly paper records for back up and tax purposes
- Answer incoming customer service calls and input customer orders in absence of Customer Service rep
- Process all employee product purchases
- Be able to effectively manage administrative activities
- Perform other duties or responsibilities, as assigned
- Minimum 2 years of work experience in bookkeeping, accounting, finance or similar position
- Candidate must have a bachelor’s or associate’s degree in accounting, finance or similar field, familiarity with GAAP is a plus
- Strong knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel
- Creative problem-solving skills, high degree of accuracy and accountability
- Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively, both internally and externally
- Understand business metrics and how to identify opportunities through analysis of reports
- An enthusiastic, positive, self-motivated, resourceful team player with attention to detail is a must
- Ideal candidate will reside in New York, NY metro area
Pay Rate: $25.00-$28.00/hr and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
