Volt is immediately hiring an Accounting Clerk for a local leading organization in Albuquerque, NM
As an Accounting Clerk you will:
- Requests financial system access for purchasing requesters/approvers through the district.
- Provides training and support to department managers and company personnel on financial matters.
- Accesses, updates information and utilizes reports from excel files, the financial system, other databases and OBMS to assist department managers and company personnel.
- Serves as a district contact and troubleshooter for department managers and company personnel.
- Analyzes and processes operational and other fund budget transfers to ensure compliance and obtain Board and/or State Department approval.
- Prepares documents for presentation to the Company Finance Committee and Company Board.
- Assists Budget department personnel with materials that provide direction regarding fiscal management policies and procedures and distributes new policies and procedures to customers.
- Coordinates the collection and dissemination of financial information for use by department managers and school personnel.
- Enters and confirms PED approved operational and other budgets in the district’s financial system.
- Tracks the district’s operational and other fund budgets to insure and maintain proper balances and sufficient funding.
- Adjusts the district’s operational and other fund budgets as necessary to reflect PED approved increases and decreases.
- Provides periodic summary reports for the district’s operational and other fund budgets to appropriate district personnel.
- Provides research and problem-solving support to appropriate district personnel as it relates to the district’s operational and other fund budgets.
- Serves as a contact for principals, secretaries, department managers and other personnel associated with operational and other fund budgets.
- Review and assures that financial records and reports for operational and other fund budgets are accurate and completed in a timely fashion.
- Possesses the ability to provide information in a clear and concise manner and to work with the public and district personnel of various levels.
- Complies with state-approved Code of Ethics of the Education Profession and upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations.
- Articulates and facilitates the implementation of the mission and values of the Albuquerque Public Schools.
- Safeguards confidentiality of privileged information.
- Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records and reports as required by law, state directives, District policy and administrative regulations.
- Shares the responsibility for the supervision and care of District inventory, proper and safe use of facilities, equipment and supplies, and reports safety hazards promptly.
- Maintains professional relationships and works cooperatively with employees, the community and other professionals.
- Maintains professional competence through individual and staff training, in-service educational activities and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Attends and/or conducts staff meetings and participates on committees within area of responsibility
- High School Diploma or GED
- 4+ years of experience in budget, finance or related field
- Proficiency with MS Excel
- Experience with a computerized financial system
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Flexibility, organization, decision-making and problem solving skills.
- Interpersonal skills with diverse populations, in-person and on the telephone.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects.
- Knowledge of Infor (formerly Lawson) financial system.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting practices.
- Ability to research, troubleshoot and problem solve.
- Knowledge of grant and contract funding and language.
- Secondary and/or post-secondary coursework in finance, accounting or related field.
