The Role

Relman Colfax PLLC is currently seeking a full-time accounting assistant that is responsible for performing accounting and administrative duties that are essential to the operations of the firm. The accounting assistant is an important part of the accounting department and requires a detail-oriented person that can work well individually and collaboratively. Candidates must also have significant experience with Excel. The accounting assistant will support the accounting functions by processing invoices, transactions, expenses as well as updating the accounting database. Cross training for candidate will include Accounts Receivable, and Billing functionality.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for receiving and reviewing invoices from vendors, coding, and assembling vouchers for approval by Office Manager, and or requesting Partner;
• Process vendor checks; handle incoming calls from vendors regarding payment status, vendor set-up and appropriate vendor reporting;
• Reconcile attorney credit card statements for processing into accounting software;
• Perform journal entries to appropriate general ledger accounts;
• Prepare weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports as requested;
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable recordkeeping (filing).

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organization and data entry skills
• General math skills
• Highly detail-oriented
• Working knowledge of Excel, financial software
• At least 1-3 year of law firm experience
• Candidate should have some college education; concentration in accounting, business or finance preferred.
