GEM Technologies, Inc. (GEM) is seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our team. This position is full-time and will support N3B in Los Alamos, NM.
Overview
- Maintains records according to generally accepted accounting practices and company procedures.
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
- Distributes expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, and receivables according to schedules.
- Audits contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.
- Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits.
- Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Installs, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.
Requirements
- High School and 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of General Ledger (accounting) systems & data.
- Ability to develop and maintain lower-level data merged from the various business systems to support field analysis.
- Intermediate level Excel experience including pivot table development, “V” look-ups, formulas, etc.
- Ability to communicate well with all levels of management and field personnel both in written and verbal formats.
Clearance & Citizenship Requirement
- To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
- Due to the federal nature of the work, a U.S. Citizenship is required.
Desired Skills
- Experience with Costpoint, preferred.
About the Site
N3B manages the Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract for the U.S. Department of Energy Environmental Management’s Los Alamos Field Office, which is responsible for cleaning up contamination that resulted from LANL operations before 1999 and packaging and shipping radioactive and hazardous waste off-site for permanent disposal (n3b-la.com).
