POSITION SUMMARY: The Accounting Analyst works within the accounting and finance function to help ensure that all routine financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Performs entry level to mid-level accounting, reconciling, and reporting functions efficiently while adhering to established internal control procedures
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Reconciles general ledger and internal bank-controlled deposit accounts accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Reviews daily GL to GL transactions for FDICIA requirements.
- Resolves balancing issues and promptly escalates unresolved issues to the Controller.
- Serves as back up to the Accounts Payable function.
- Assists in the preparation of the quarterly call report and annual summary of deposits.
- Assists in the timely and accurate completion of other bank regulatory reports, which may include, but are not limited to, state and federal tax returns, and 1099s.
- Reconciles the bank's bond portfolio and interest rate hedges.
- Prepares daily and monthly public entity pledging reports.
- Works with the Bond Portfolio Manager and Payment Operations Department on trade activity to ensure entries are made timely and all supporting documents are received.
- Reconciles the bank's investor servicing portfolios to ensure data accuracy and monthly reporting is completed as required by investors.
- Works with system support and other departments to solve system-related issues.
- Assists with departmental processes and procedures.
- Monitors the general ledger for potential accounting misstatements or errors.
- Promptly reports any identified material errors or suspicious activity to the Controller and monitors through to resolution.
- Performs special projects as assigned, including research, system problem resolution, analysis, tracking, and reporting.
- Assists with the preparation and gathering of information for audits and regulatory or other examinations.
- Adheres to financial and accounting related internal controls in accordance with FDICIA requirements.
- Recommends cost control measures and revenue enhancement measures.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Cross train in other positions within the Accounting / Finance Department as directed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Will need to be able to handle stressful situations and function in a very fast-paced environment while remaining calm and precise. Must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and enjoy working with the public. Will need to communicate in a clear, concise, and pleasant manner.
May have to work longer hours than scheduled.
Must be able to meet deadlines, multi-task and adjust priorities as necessary. Must possess strong organizational, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with all levels of management and the Bank's vendors. Must be a self-starter who challenges existing processes and can identify and implement efficiencies and cost-saving solutions. Will have access to and knowledge of all employees' accounts, customer information, and the bank's finances, so the ability to keep information confidential is extremely important.
The employee will be working in an indoor office setting in a light work situation (exerting up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects). Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity equipment. Employees frequently communicate with employees, customers and vendors. May be required to travel to other locations on a periodic basis, so must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Must be able to exchange accurate information both orally and written in English.

ROLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience
- 2+ years of accounting experience or 2+ years accounting related experience, preferably in the financial services industry or accounts payable
- Associate or bachelor's degree (B.A.) in accounting or finance from a two or four-year college or university or equivalent work experience.
