Job Description:
Climate United is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Associate to support our accounting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for entering accounts payable (AP), reviewing employee expenses and timesheet coding, assisting in assembling invoices, and performing other basic accounting tasks. This role is essential to maintaining the financial integrity of our operations and ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable (AP) Processing: Enter and manage AP transactions in Intacct accounting software, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
Expense and Timesheet Review: Review and verify employee expense reports and timesheet coding for accuracy and adherence to company policies.
Invoice Assembly: Assist in the preparation and assembly of invoices, ensuring all necessary documentation and approvals are included.
Basic Accounting Support: Perform routine accounting tasks such as data entry, reconciliation of accounts, and preparation of supporting documentation for financial statements and reports.
Document Management: Maintain organized records of financial transactions, receipts, invoices, and other relevant documents for audit and compliance purposes.
Reporting Assistance: Support the accounting team in generating reports, financial statements, and other documentation as needed for internal and external stakeholders.
Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Relevant experience in basic accounting tasks, including AP processing, expense review, and invoicing.
Familiarity with Intacct accounting software or similar accounting systems is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other standard office software.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing financial transactions and documentation.
Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with team members and other stakeholders.
Strong organizational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification: CPA or other relevant accounting certifications are a plus.
Experience in Nonprofit Sector: Experience working in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization is advantageous.
Grants Management: Familiarity with grants management and federal grant reporting requirements is a plus.
