Overview :
Our client, a prominent utility company in the Washington, DC area, is seeking a Senior Accountant for a direct-hire role in their Vienna, VA office (with some WFH options). Primary duties include overseeing the general ledger, conducting account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations. Applicants must be US Citizens or Permanent Residents.
Responsibilities :- Handle daily accounting functions for the company and other subsidiaries as needed.
- Support workflow, system, and process improvements.
- Analyze and explain financial variances during monthly due diligence meetings.
- Perform account reconciliations in BlackLine, including reviewing accounts receivable for bad debt analysis and reconciling AR sub-ledgers to the general ledger.
- Collaborate with teams to manage power and gas revenue, costs, and renewable energy credits.
- Conduct monthly derivatives accounting and prepare quarterly disclosures, including derivative designations for large commercial accounts.
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, addressing corrective actions when necessary.
- Communicate financial findings to assess and report impacts on balance sheets and income statements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- At least 5 years of business experience required.
- CPA certification or equivalent experience preferred.
- Familiarity with GAAP, SEC regulations, and energy industry experience preferred.
- Experience with PeopleSoft Financial modules (e.g., General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Projects) and Power Plant software.
- Willingness to learn new systems and processes.
- Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office (including advanced Excel and Access), with strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Skilled in building positive relationships with colleagues and business partners.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary range of $80K-$110K, based on experience, qualifications, location, licensure, and certifications. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
