Job DescriptionThe Accountant, under the general direction of the Assistant Controller, will be expected to work on numerous accounting functions. They must have knowledge of and a demonstrated ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles and internal controls. The Accountant will have the capacity to accomplish tasks independently, a willingness to learn new areas, and consistent performance with a sense of urgency and commitment. As Accountant, you are responsible to:
- Maintain quarterly process for lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842, including contract review, working with third-party provider to acquire data inputs, recording journal entries and preparing reconciliations.
- Analyze and interpret complex customer contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606. Reconciles revenue accounts and investigates discrepancies, making necessary adjustments as needed.
- Prepare financial statements for foreign entity with subsidiaries – intercompany eliminations, inventory in-profit, equity method and year-end footnote preparation
- Prepare and enter foreign currencies into SAP
- Reconcile several bank accounts (multiple currencies) and makes proper adjusting entries
- Maintain customer rebates programs (creates and changes programs within SAP, accruals and issuances)
- Prepare monthly journal entries and supports month-end, quarterly and year-end financial closing process activity and reporting
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting; sales flash report, commissions, claims and government surveys
- Participate in internal and external audits to ensure compliance with JSOX and US GAAP standards
- Prepare account reconciliations/account analysis
- Review currency translation
- Perform various other responsibilities and projects as assigned
To perform your job as expected, you will be required to have:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Accounting from 4-year college or university; MBA, CPA or public accounting experience a plus;
- 3-7 years of General Accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes, reporting, and budgeting.
- Proficiency in financial reporting under US GAAP, experience with foreign entities a plus.
- Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency with data analysis, critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, IBM Cognos Controller – consolidation software.
In addition to these qualifications, we will consider it a plus if you have:
- Exposure to ASC 842 and ASC 606 is strongly desired. Proficiency in financial reporting and US GAAP, with exposure to foreign entities and global consolidation
- Proficiency in computer-based applications, including SAP ERP
