Position: Accountant
Duration: 04+ Months Contract
Location: Phoenix, AZ 85003 (Onsite)
Description:
The Management Services IT Accountant provides analysis of data in the preparation of financial documents.
In this role you will work collaboratively with the Finance team to support the County’s IT department.
Skills Required:
Perform a wide variety of financial activities related to financial transaction monitoring and audits, including fixed asset and cash receipt transactions.
Prepare and present financial tracking reports, analyses, and other material to management in a clear and concise manner.
Provide active follow up and resolution on assignments.
Actively support IT procurement activities for capital purchases, services, and supplies, according to procurement policies.
Perform duties as a Certified Agency Procurement Aide (CAPA), which includes following County policy for CAPA and the County Procurement Guidelines.
Play a primary role in the tracking and analyses of fixed assets, journal voucher documentation preparation, and external customer billings.
Easily and effectively interact with technical, non-technical support, and business staff including County management and individuals external to Maricopa County.
Experience Required:
One year of accounting experience, which includes tracking of expenditures, billing, preparation of financial reports, or gathering data and producing management reports.
An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements on a year for year basis.
Must possess strong ethics as applied to federal, state, and County policies, regulations, and requirements.
Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and prioritize work and activities of self and others;to work with confidential and sensitive information;to handle multiple duties simultaneously;and meet deadlines and follow up on assignments with minimal direction.
Experience Preferred:
Three (3) years of accounting experience, which includes tracking of expenditures, billing, preparation of financial reports, or gathering data and producing management reports.
Knowledge of Maricopa County fiscal/budget policies and procedures, departmental policies, and procedures, and purchasing systems.
Ability to successfully negotiate with vendors to ensure Maricopa County is fiscally responsible.
Government sector finance, budgeting, and purchasing experience.
Experience with fixed asset tracking and reporting.
Education Required:
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, or closely related.
