About the Position
Athena is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our growing Operations Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Requirements
What you'll be responsible for:
- Strategic planning, directing and coordinating of accounting operational functions; inclusive of budgeting, forecasting, risk identification and offering recommendations for key stakeholder decision making.
- Support regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance.
- Establish a strong rapport with clients and vendors to support service contract negotiations and maintenance of receivables and payables.
- Preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports monthly and as requested to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for management.
- Monthly closing duties, account analysis, and special projects inclusive of account reconciliation and banking functions.
- Prepare, analyze and present monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting and in support of regular leadership meetings and requests.
- Conduct daily accounts payable and accounts receivable functions such as management of General Ledger entries, ACH and wire transfers, client invoicing, management of billing systems, bill payment, corporate credit card program, reconciliation of expenses and disburse payments. Rigorous adherence to schedules and deadlines.
- Review, research and resolve financial discrepancies.
- Conduct meetings and collaborate with project leads to prepare and maintain statements of work, external invoices and schedules. Report out operational information including project performance metrics, data pulls.
- Maintain and reinforce compliance and support for ISO27001 certification.
- Execute special projects, ad hoc requests and other duties as assigned.
The skills and experience you should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required (CPA or MBA a plus)
- 1 -2 years minimum experience in a financial role
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (Plus or Advanced) required
- In-depth working knowledge of accounting systems (A/P, A/R, Billing, General Ledger)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office product
- Ability to demonstrate analytical processes, identify opportunities and execute improvements utilizing logical decision-making skills
- Characteristics of high integrity, passion, and self-discipline with a strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- High emotional intelligence
- Demonstrate outstanding leadership and organizational skills
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
- Ability to balance attention to detail with swift execution
