Job Description:
We are seeking a versatile and detail-oriented floating accountant to support various accounting functions within our institution. This dynamic role requires flexibility and adaptability as you assist several critical responsibilities. Allocation of responsibilities may vary depending on departmental needs at any given time, but may include cash management, member posting, payroll, financial reporting, accounts payable, and member billing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cash Management:
- Monitor and validate legitimacy of settlement activity
- Assist in monitoring daily cash flow and managing liquidity for the credit union
- Prepare and review bank and related account reconciliations
Member posting:
- Compile, review, and post member activity
- Prepare and review related account reconciliations
- Respond to and assume responsibility for related member, vendor, and partner inquires
Payroll:
- Process timely and accurate payroll
- Ensure compliance with legal and policy-driven requirements
- Maintain payroll records
- Respond to and assume responsibility for payroll-related employee inquiries
- Coordinate with payroll, insurance, and retirement vendors as needed
Financial Reporting:
- Collaborate in the preparation of periodic financial statements
- Prepare and review monthly NCUA call report filings
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, NCUA regulations, and internal policies
- Assist with variance analysis and budget reporting
- Prepare and review account reconciliations
- Accounts Payable:
- Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments in accordance with company policies
- Assist in reconciling accounts payable accounts and vendor statements
Member Billing:
- Support the billing process for member accounts, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing
- Respond to and assume responsibility for member billing inquiries
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred
- Proven experience in accounting roles
- Proficient in accounting software, ERP systems, and MS Excel
- Familiarity with financial institution operations is a plus
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
