Riverside, CA 92501
About the Job
The County of Riverside District Attorney's Office is seeking an Accountant I/II to support their Countywide Administrative Grants unit, located in Riverside . The incumbent will be responsible for establishing, reviewing, revising, and maintaining control on fiscal record-keeping functions; auditing fiscal records and accounting procedures; and performing other related duties as required.
Competitive applicants will possess:

- Experience with revenue projections and account reconciliation
- Experience with PeopleSoft (Financial Production/HMS); Simpler 3.0

The Accountant I is the first working level classification in the professional Accountant series and reports to a supervisory or manager level position. Incumbents may perform either accounting or auditing functions and are expected to have a broad knowledge of the principles and practices related to these functions in order to facilitate fiscal control and analysis, and to assume working level duties of limited difficulty.
The Accountant II is the fully qualified journey level classification in the professional Accountant series and reports to a supervisory or manager position. Incumbents perform the full range of assignments requiring a greater technical knowledge than those given to the Accountant I class. Incumbents may be assigned the responsibility for an accounting subdivision or for the accounting function of a County department, or may be given auditing assignments of average difficulty. In addition, incumbents may supervise clerical or technical staff, and may mentor Accountant Trainees.
The Accountant I is a natural progression underfill for the Accountant II. Incumbents are expected to promote to Accountant II after obtaining one year of experience as an Accountant I, meeting the education requirement and obtaining a satisfactory performance evaluation. Failure to promote to the Accountant II class will result in incumbents being returned to their former County classification or new hires being released prior to the end of their probationary period.
