The Prince George's County Department of Corrections is seeking qualified individuals to fill an Accountant I/II position, (Grade G18/21) with within its Inmate Finance Office in the Support Services Division.
About the Position:
This is the entry-level in the professional accounting work requiring basic knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices. Under direct supervision of a higher-level accountant, work assignments include some or all of the following; compilation and maintenance of records of routine accounting transactions, assistance in preparation and/or maintenance of accounting reporting systems, resolution of problems associated with incorrect entries, deviations from established procedures, and other inconsistencies with generally accepted accounting principles, and assist in analysis and interpretation of accounting records and reports.
This position is considered "Essential". The incumbent selected for this position must be willing to stay or report to work during a program-related incident/crisis, a man-made crisis, or inclement weather when other county employees have been granted administrative leave.
About the Agency:
The Department of Corrections is an adult correctional center with a direct supervision design operating under the unit management concept. We have 18 Housing Units, and the daily inmate population is 1,039. We offer alternative incarceration programs for eligible offenders as well as provide educational services and programming to incarcerated individuals.
