This contract to hire role as an Accountant I in Chicago, IL is responsible to monitor, research, and balance by supporting the preparation of financial reporting and statements for collecting and preparing lower level journal entries and account reconciliations.
Responsibilities:
• Monitor, research, and balance by supporting the preparation of financial reporting and statements for collecting and preparing lower level journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Reviewing, approving and routing different miscellaneous transactions requests and on accounts like claims, premiums, administrative expenses and gain/loss.
• Supports audits by gathering and explaining lower levels requested examples, procedures, and supporting information for audit MAR control quarterly testing.
• Ensures areas of responsibility is operating with appropriate financial controls.
• Evaluating data for reasonableness and researching questions or troubleshooting errors that may involve several systems at lower level complexity.
• In addition, responsible for performing the department systems lower level testing activities and implementation.
Job Requirements:
• College degree in accounting, college degree in business with significant accounting coursework, or 3 years accounting experience.
• MS Office including Word and Excel.
• Keen analytical skills and very detail-oriented.
• Clear, concise communication with good grammar, appropriate word choice.
Preferred Job Requirements:
• College degree in accounting.
• Understanding generally accepted accounting principles and statutory accounting.
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
• Experience with financial reporting systems, including month end close tracking software such as Cadency, Oracle Cloud ERP and query tools like Smartview.
• Knowledge of client products and terminology.
