Seeking an experienced Accountant / Senior Accountant who will be an addition to our clients accounting department in East Houston, TX. This role requires an individual with self-motivation, a hands-on approach, and a depth of knowledge in accounting policies and procedures. In-depth knowledge of QuickBooks is a must. This role will report to the company’s Finance Manager in the day-to-day transactions.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the accurate and timely processing of all general accounting processes and control activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, month-end close, job costs, balance sheets, journal entries, depreciation, accruals, etc.
- Assist in establishing a Month End Closing procedure.
- Reconciliation of Intercompany Accounts.
- Work in the treasury system to ensure daily banking transactions are reconciled and assist with the processing of domestic and international wire transfers by adhering to a defined protocol.
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of daily, weekly, and monthly reporting, as well as account and bank reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial data in accordance with GAAP.
- Hands-on management of accounts receivable aging and overseeing collection efforts.
- Help implement, monitor, and maintain best-in-class accounting policies/procedures and internal controls to ensure proper accounting and accurate financial reporting.
- Identify and improve inefficiencies within the accounting department.
- Document processes and procedures effectively.
- Maintain confidentiality and exhibit a high degree of personal and professional integrity.
- Support the Company’s annual audit process, including providing audit schedules, samples, and responses to the Company’s external auditor.
- Provide various analytical reports as requested by management.
- Develop financial reports and analysis to measure Company performance and individual department performance for ongoing improvement.
- Knowledge or experience in 401K, benefits, and payroll accounting is a plus.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
- 3+ years of strong overall experience in full cycle accounting (e.g., A/P, A/R, Budgeting, Training & Development).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including professional phone etiquette.
- Detail-oriented and strong problem-solving abilities with a high level of accuracy and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
