Our client, one of Houston’s premier commercial real estate investment companies, is seeking an Accountant to manage financial activities and reporting for multiple properties. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in accounting, preferably with experience in commercial real estate and property accounting. Working collaboratively, the new team member will enhance business efficiency by ensuring accurate financial records and delivering timely reports while maintaining a proactive approach to property accounting and compliance.

Type of Position:Direct Hire
Responsibilities:
- Manage the A/R process, prepare and post all cash transactions (checks, wires, and ACH), and review bank accounts online to verify all transactions are posted.
- Manage the A/P process, review, prepare, and issue check payments, set up wire/ACH payments, and assist with vendor inquiries.
- Prepare weekly Cash Management report.
- Prepare necessary journal entries to record accounting activities such as distributions, contributions, loan activity, amortization, depreciation, capitalization, and other recurring activities.
- Prepare monthly balance sheets, profit and loss statements, rent rolls, and other reports to summarize the company's current and projected financial position in the SKYLINE program.
- Prepare general ledger account reconciliations including bank reconciliations.
- Work with Property Managers to ensure the accuracy of journal entries and the general ledger, review, investigate, and provide explanations of income statement variance and budget to actual variances.
- Maintain schedules and post monthly accruals/prepays of contract services, utilities, taxes, and insurance.
- Assist Management with CAM reconciliations.
- Set up new leases in the SKYLINE system, prepare and email monthly tenant billings, reconcile tenant security deposits.
- Oversee and verify tenant bill backs.
- Process and distribute year-end 1099s.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, preferably within Commercial Real Estate or Property Accounting
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, not required
- Knowledge of Skyline software is a huge plus!
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel and a 10-key calculator.
- Must be comfortable working in a business professional environment
- US GAAP experience required
